At St Francis Animal Welfare we have lots of cats and young kittens looking for their forever homes. The cats in our care have all come to us for a variety of reasons -  some were strays, others were given up by their owners for a variety of reasons.

All of our cats are well cared for and loved during their stay with us. Our staff and volunteers take the time each day to sit with the cats and play, brush and cuddle them. We do our best to assess each individual cat's personality during its stay with us to ensure we match them up with the perfect home.

Our cats all visit our vet shortly after their arrival and are subsequently spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, wormed, flea'd and micro-chipped before being ready for adoption.

As well as our cattery, the shelter has a separate 'Mum and Kitten' unit, offering extra warmth and comfort for new mothers and their litters.

The animals available for adoption are always changing so it is advisable to contact the shelter to see if an animal on our website has been found a home, or if there are any new animals available for adoption. Please call 02380 693282 before 5pm.

Not all of our animals appear on our website.

Name: Oz

Sex: Male

Age: 4 years old

Breed: Domestic short hair black and white

Neutered? Yes

Vaccinated? Yes

Microchipped? Yes

Good with other cats? Not really

Good with dogs? Oz would tolerate a visiting dog but not one who resides permanently with him.

Good with children? Yes - visiting children only

Summary: Oz is an extremely affectionate and sensitive cat. Although he appears very confident (he will happily sit on anyone's lap) he does not like change or a lot of hustle and bustle.

He needs a quiet and cat experienced home, with someone who has a lot of love to give, a cosy lap and lots of patience.

Oz really is a large boy and would need his diet to be continued in his new home.
Names: Fred and Daphne

Sexes: Male and Female

Ages: Approx 1 year old

Breeds: Both domestic shorthair black

Neutered? Yes

Vaccinated? Yes

Microchipped? No but will be prior to rehoming

Good with cats? Yes

Good with dogs? No

Good with children? No

Summary: Fred and Daphne are a semi feral pair of gorgeous and elegant looking black cats.

They are looking for a new home together.

Although they have only ever known inside, we believe that they would thrive in a home where they had outside access. As they have never been outside, any potential homes would need to be far away from a busy main road as they are highly likely to have little or no road sense.

Although this pair can be very nervous, they soon come round and enjoy affection from people known to them.

Name: Suki

Sex: Female

Age: 5/6 years old

Breed: Domestic longhair tabby (possibly a Maine Coon cross)

Neutered: Yes

Vaccinated: Yes

Microchipped: Yes

Good with other cats? No - She would prefer to be the only cat in her new home

Good with dogs? Yes - if they ignore her.

Good with children? No

Summary: Suki is looking for a nice, quiet home, perhaps with just one human. She can be nervous until she gets to know you, but once she has made friends, she is your friend for life!

Suki enjoys going out and about and loves the outdoors - She runs loose at St Francis as seemed a shame to keep her cooped up as it made her sad. She enjoys sunning herself for hours in the fields and likes to chase insects. She is also a excellent mouser and likes to bring the staff at St Francis little presents!

As much as we love Suki here at the shelter, we would love for her to find a home to call her own.
